Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen[]

Sideways was hiding out in Shanghai with Demolishor when NEST came to investigate a possible Decepticon insurgence. At first, the two Decepticons remained concealed, but Demolishor soon transformed and attacked. While the soldiers and their Autobot allies were busy fighting off Demolishor, Sideways took advantage of the chaos and attempted to make his getaway. He was not entirely undetected, however, as Major Lennox sent out the Arcee sisters and the twins in pursuit.

With the Arcee sisters and the Twins on his tail, Sideways turned a corner to an apartment complex in his way. Rather than turn and lose momentum, Sideways chucked caution to the wind and transformed, knocking Chromia aside in the process, jumping through the apartment building and out the other side, once he passed the complex, he transformed back into alt mode and drives away. The Twins were unable to keep up with the chase, and Sideways was soon able to fight off the Arcee sisters, since the Arcee sisters weren't able to do enough damage at Sideways, N.E.S.T. sent in Sideswipe, who chased Sideways until he threw two blades at the con and used them to cut Sideways in half before he could transform again. his remains exploding and soon devastated within seconds afterwards.

Transformers toy bios[]

After his catastrophic defeat at the hands of Sideswipe, Sideways was rebuilt and sent deep undercover to infiltrate the Autobots. He has been successful - until now. The Autobot twins, Autobot Skids and Mudflap, back in their previous form for a little undercover work of their own, have tracked him down. This time, they're determined to prove themselves by trashing a Decepticon on their own.[1].

Apparently, the Sideways was finally eliminated at some point, since in the future his toys (with the exception of the Studio Series line) did not come out.

Trivia[]

  • The name Sideways had been used before, in other Transformers franchises, most famously as the faction swapping double agent from the Unicron Trilogy. Later, more obscure fiction suggested that every version of Sideways were all the same, dimension-hopping, Unicron Trilogy character. The guidebook AllSpark Almanac II, mainly about the universe of Transformers Animated, featured a Sideways who was seemingly the same as the "main" Sideways, and had taken on a look not dissimilar to the Movie character. As well as this, he claimed to want to visit Shanghai, implying that he was the same Sideways as the Movie character, and this all Sideways's were the same being.
    • However, the book only asserts his intention to visit Shanghai, not that he actually travelled there, nor does it specify whether he wanted to visit a different dimension's Shanghai, and that the two Sideways's must be the same character. Author Jim Sorenson characterized the book as being meant to match the Animated series' penchant for "in-jokes and Easter Eggs", suggesting that he might not have meant it to be taken seriously.
  • Sideways was the first transformer to die in his alt mode.
  • Sideways' alt mode was originally a Lamborghini as shown in this early Animatic and the early concept art as shown in these two:
