CH-53E Super Stallion Helicopter

As CH-53E Super Stallion Helicopter

Grindor was a massive hulking Decepticon who, like most Decepticons, was loyal to Megatron. He was a master strategist, and always planned ahead of his enemies. However, in Revenge of The Fallen, his head was ripped off by Optimus Prime in the forest fight. He bears a striking resemblance to Blackout.

History[]

Titan Comics[]

In Learning Curve, Grindor was sent to Las Vegas by Soundwave, but was frustrated at Soundwave's vagueness, being directed to an old car. Somewhat fed up, Grindor was pleased to be ordered to cut open the car and retrieve a Cybertronian memory tree. He came under attack by NEST forces intending to capture him, to which Grindor used his rotors to create a whirlwind that hurled cars at his enemies. NEST easily managed to anchor him to the ground with an electrified cable before he could retreat, but Grindor was saved when a pair of foolish Autobots accidentally shot the cable.

Revenge of the Fallen[]

Grindor was sent to kidnap Sam Witwicky. Grindor arrived to find Sam driving with Mikaela Banes, and wasted no time in hoisting the whole car up and taking them to a deserted facility before leaving.

He later joined both Megatron and Starscream in the forest hunting Sam. They didn't count on Optimus Prime being present with the boy and the trio began to fight the Autobot leader. Grindor was not taking it too well by Optimus, who used his blades to slice off Grindor's right arm, slash him in the chest, use Starscream as a shield to block the projectiles from Grindor, causing most of his top parts to fall and threw his energon sword at Grindor's left leg. As a result of these injuries, Grindor fell back for a bit, but rejoined the fight, only for Optimus to jump on top of him and brandish his hooks to rip Grindor's head apart, much to Grindor's pleas. Prime then jumped down, pulling the corpse of Grindor down with him whilst saying “piece of tin!” but Megatron avenged Grindor by killing Optimus Prime in the process.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon[]

A body type of Grindor appears in Washington D.C, and later in the Battle of Chicago, he was destroyed by Optimus Prime's attempted rampage to against Shockwave.

Alternate Timeline Fates[]

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen toy bios[]

In this timeline, a Blackout was apparently present in the battle in the forest, not a Grindor. Since it is indicated here[1] that after the destruction of the Allspark, the Scorponok was reunited with Blackout, who apparently survived the battles in Mission City in this timeline. And the Grindor in this timeline arrived on Earth after the defeat of Megatron and Fallen.

Bumblebee has been fighting airborne Decepticons for ages, so he knows just how to deal with them. Grindor may be able to hover well out of range of his weapons, dropping bombs with chaotic glee, but the Autobot warrior still has a few tricks. He weaves through the streets at top speed, forcing the Decepticon to maneuver constantly between buildings. Eventually Grindor will make a mistake. As soon as his rotor brushes a building, he'll come crashing down, and then Bumblebee will have him.[2]

Notes[]

  • Frank Welker is not credited for the voice of Grindor in the credits of the film itself, but his official homepage credited him for the role. It's not entirely reliable that the page wasn't simply updated by someone who read it on Wikipedia, but the scream that Grindor shrieked as Optimus Prime rips his head apart is pretty unmistakably Welker.
  • Revenge of the Fallen never explicitly establishes Grindor as a separate character from Blackout. Screenwriter Roberto Orci, when asked, was not sure whether they were supposed to be the same character or not. In the TFWiki Q&A for July 2009, it was confirmed that Grindor, not Blackout, appears in the movie.
  • He has two lines where he says in the movie when Optimus Prime stabs his leg with his energon sword, he says, "MY LEG!" As Optimus stabs his hooks on Grindor's eye and rips his face apart, as he pleads him not to do it, he says, "NO! PRIME! PLEASE, NOOOOOOO!!!!"
  • Ironically, despite being a master strategist, he comes off as rather dumb and dim-witted during the forest battle and was not much helpful other besides slashing Optimus's side with his blades before getting his arm cut off, chest slashed open, assaulted by Starscream's missile, losing most of his back rotor parts, getting Prime's energon blade piece thrown into his leg before getting his face torn open by Prime's hooks.
  • Even though his Alt mode was a CH-53E Super Stallion with seven rotor blades, due to being a reused model of Blackout whose alt mode was a MH-53 Pave Low, he would instead have six instead.
